Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project

Plumbers and Pipefitters are required on the Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project.

Working conditions and other requirements:

  • Extended shift hours in changing weather conditions.
  • Busy, noisy, and dusty environments on dynamic terrains with multiple trades working together.
  • Frequently alternating between standing, kneeling, and lifting positions in elevated or cramped spaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment will be required (e.g., steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.)
  • Construction jobs may require workers to be in good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy weight.
  • Must have good observational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Have a good understanding and the ability to follow safe work procedures.

 

Experience, qualifications, and certifications:

  • Valid Red Seal, Journeyperson or Apprentice Plumber Certification (BC licensed) and completion of Foundation Training is considered an asset.
  • BC Class B or Class A Gas Fitter Certification (classroom instruction) is required for Gas Fitter position.
  • Fall Protection / Fall Arrest certification required.
  • Experience working in heavy civil construction considered an asset.
  • Scissor Lift, Aeriel/Elevating Work Platform, OFA level 1 Certification considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety procedures CSTS-09.
  • Valid Class 5 Drives License considered an asset.
  • SiteReadyBC including WHMIS required (details will be provided by BCIB upon employment).
