Construction Craft Workers and Labourers
Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project
Construction Craft Workers (CCW) and Labourers are required in Duncan on the Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project all throughout 2023.

Working conditions and other requirements:
- • Extended shift hours in changing weather conditions.
- • Busy, noisy, and dusty environments on dynamic terrains with multiple trades working together.
- • Personal Protective Equipment will be required (e.g., steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.)
- • Frequently alternating between standing, kneeling, and lifting positions in elevated or cramped spaces.
- • Construction jobs may require workers to be in good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy weight.
- • Must have good observational skills and the ability to multitask.
- • Have a good understanding and the ability to follow safe work procedures.
Experience, qualifications, and certifications that are considered an asset:
- Valid Red Seal, Journey Person or Apprenticeship Construction Craft Worker certification considered an asset.
- Experience working in heavy civil construction considered an asset.
- Ability to operate electric hand tools in a safe and efficient manner considered an asset.
- Experience in civil utility location, installation and repair considered an asset (gas, water, sewer, storm).
- Spotting equipment and trucks around underground and overhead utilities.
- Lifting and carrying equipment and tools, as well as using ladders.
- Kneeling, crouching, bending, and stooping in a ditch while installing or repairing sewers line.
- Continuous walking on uneven ground surface, standing on concrete/asphalt.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ground Disturbance Level 2, OFA Level 1, Fundamentals of Rigging, Fall Protection, Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform, Confined Space Entry and Asbestos training considered an asset.
- Rigging certificate and knowledge of hand signals to provide ground support communication for Tower Crane Operator.
- Ability to place and vibrate concrete and strip non reusable form work.
- Respirator Fit Test and must be willing to be clean shaven and wear a respirator.
- Assist with general maintenance of the construction site.
- Class 5 Drivers License or higher considered an asset.
- Site Ready BC including WHMIS required (details will be provided by BCIB upon employment).
