Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project

Red Seal, Journeyperson and Apprentice Carpenters are required on the Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project.

Working Conditions:

  • Extended shift hours, in changing weather conditions.
  • Busy, noisy, and dusty environments on dynamic terrains with multiple trades working together.
  • Personal Protective Equipment will be required (e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.)
  • Frequently alternating between standing, kneeling, and lifting positions in elevated or cramped spaces.
  • Construction jobs may require workers to be in good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy weight.

 

Experience, qualifications, and certifications:

  • Valid Certificate of Qualification or Red Seal, Journey Person, or Apprenticeship Carpentry certification.
  • Experience working in heavy civil construction considered an asset.
  • Formwork Carpenters: Formwork experience required. Experience with PERI and IntEllideck systems considered an asset.
  • Lathers (Interior Systems Mechanics): Experience installing steel studs in commercial projects considered an asset.
  • Fall Protection / Fall Arrest, and Aerial Lift / Elevated Work Platform certifications required.
  • OFA Level 1 considered an asset.
  • Must have good observational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Have a good understanding and the ability to follow safe work procedures.
  • Site Ready BC including WHMIS required (provided by BCIB upon employment).
