Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project

Red Seal, Journeyperson and Apprentice Carpenters/Lathers are required on the Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project.

Working Conditions:

  • Extended shift hours, in changing weather conditions.
  • Busy, noisy, and dusty environments on dynamic terrains with multiple trades working together.
  • Personal Protective Equipment will be required (e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.)
  • Frequently alternating between standing, kneeling, and lifting positions in elevated or cramped spaces.
  • Construction jobs may require workers to be in good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy weight.

Requirements:

  • Fall Protection/Fall Arrest, and Aerial Work Platform certificates.
  • Formwork Carpenters: Formwork experience.
  • Must have good observational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Have a good understanding and the ability to follow safe work procedures.
  • Site Ready BC including WHMIS required (provided by BCIB upon employment).

Assets:

  • Valid Certificate of Qualification or Red Seal, Journeyperson, or Apprenticeship certification as a Carpenter or Lather (Interior Systems Mechanic).
  • Confined Space Entry, and OFA Level 1 certificates.
  • Formwork Carpenters: Experience with PERI and IntEllideck systems.
  • Lathers (Interior Systems Mechanics): Experience installing steel studs in commercial projects.
  • Experience working in heavy civil construction or road building.
