New Heights Achieved

Building the stal̕əw̓asəm (Riverview) Bridge was a tall order. The tower stands 167 metres above the Fraser River! The new bridge provides important improvements for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians—and a legacy for British Columbians and the tradespeople who built it. 

These improvements include: 

  • A safer crossing for all bridge users with modern, wider lanes, separated by a centre median barrier 
  • Dedicated walking and cycling lanes, separated from traffic by a barrier on both sides of the bridge 
  • Better connections to, from and near the bridge 
  • Priority access to construction jobs for local trades workers 

The toll-free stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge is now open. BCIB tradespeople are now working to disassemble and deconstruct the Pattullo Bridge.

My new life in Surrey is very much better from my old life. Lebanon is at war, so you can’t look forward to your future. You can dream here in Surrey. To come and work on such a big project is very good for me as someone who immigrated recently.

It’s pretty neat to be working on the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project, something that’s going to change the world forever. I’ll be pretty excited to show my kids exactly what I did. My oldest son really wants to get into carpentry now too.
