A Training Ground for Apprentices and Trainees
The Vancouver Community College’s Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation is being built at the Broadway campus. The LEED Gold certified project will be eight-stories tall and 343,832 square feet, built with a mix of mass-timber and concrete. This project will be a training ground for apprentices and trainees, both during the construction and for VCC’s automotive trade students in the future.
The design concept conveys a traditional Coast Salish canoe and was inspired by the pre-settlement history of the VCC site and the stories shared by Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations’ knowledge sharers.
